Purvida Healthy Horse is a brand I love. Made in Canada by #bossbabe Amanda Lee. I was so excited to try out their products, like the Roll-On Relief Liniment. The inspiration behind the brand was to create safe, wholesome products for horses that worked. Purvida prides itself on great knowledgeable customers service. I definitely had many questions about application, and where it can be applied. All questions and concerns were promptly and kindly answered. Free Shipping in North America, this liniment sells off of their website for $50.00 CAD or $37.99 USD
I think a good liniment is mandatory in my tack box. We have such a high expectations of our horses, it is important to address their pain and needs as they come forward. Sore muscles effect all of us, and there is nothing like a good liniment worked into our aches and pains to bring us back to normal. The expectations we have for our own muscle products is the same expectations Purvida has for their product designed for horses. Formulated by pain expert Dr. Chris Oswald guaranteeing knowledge and science in its formulation gives peace of mind. I know I can trust their brand and the thought put into it.
This little bottle reminds me of the roll on deodorant bottles I used to get from Avon. Comfortable to hold in your hand, as well easy to bring with you on the go. It has a really fresh, minty scent (Menthol being a main ingredient for cooling and soothing) that I quite enjoyed and did not find to be overpowering. The label has all the information you need to know. Directions, ingredients, and the names behind the designs.
Roll-On Relief liniment, like all of Purvida’s products, is made with natural ingredients designed to not only relieve pain temporarily, but help additionally with the absorption of magnesium, glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM.
Magnesium is infamous for easing aches and pains in a warm bath of epsom salts by absorbing through the skin. Pure Magnesium (**not epsom salts) can also be safely ingested and is safe for horses.
Glucosamine is helpful topically in temporarily relieving pain symptoms within the muscle and joint. It also can help accelerate the healing process in wounds.
MSM is a natural form of sulfur and is great for inflammation, and is safe for horses to ingest.
Chondroitin is often used in topical treatments for arthritis pain for humans. It is good for pain relief and is safe for horses to ingest.
These main ingredients are not only proven effective by science and through human use but they are also safe for horses to ingest. In case of any concern of the product ending up in your horses digestive system (say biting or scratching at the area where the liniment was applied) there is no fear of toxicity.
Fit and Feel
The main spots I apply this product is along her spine, more so around the SI joint, and into her hips. On occasion my mare gets muscle spasms in her neck from sticking her head through the fence. If left untreated during a ride, she tends to be less willing to collect or bend to one side. When I work this into that spasms, it makes a huge difference in my rides and the inflammation goes down significantly. It can be used for a variety of body aches such as arthritis pain, tendon strains, and splints. It is safe to apply before and after your ride.
If you want to see how well a product works, test it on yourself. One night when my back was really bothering me, I applied this roll-on to my lower back. It worked so well, and the effects lasted for hours. I was so impressed.
You know how I really know it works? My boyfriend was complaining about his back pain, so I rubbed his back down with this ‘mystery product’. He felt so much better and it was not until about an hour after that did I tell him it was a liniment for my horse I was trying out.
Some advice on application, when I first started using this product, I used way too much. I was concerned that if I did not use enough it would not get through her hair. After using it on myself, I realized that a little goes a long way, and I have since taken that information and used it when applying it to my mare.
Honestly, the bottle of this product is my favorite part of it. The roller ball makes it great for an even application, but I also work that roller ball into her muscles to really massage it in. It does not leave a sticky residue. The only evidence of a previous application is sometimes a fine white dusting of powder is visible on the coat, indicating remains of anything that was not absorbed dried on the hair. Hardly noticeable, and easy to brush off.
I love Purvida Healthy Horse’s Roll-On Relief Liniment, and will purchase it in the future. It may appear to be a small bottle, but a little goes a long way. Easy to apply, the style of the bottle makes application process even more effective and less messy than other brands. Natural, safe ingredients that work, and are safe for you and your horse are sure to please. I love how well it fits in your hand and how I can easily fit it into a grooming bag. This product is $50.00 CAD or $37.99 USD, free shipping across North America. Keep an eye out for it in your favourite tack store (Mine is Two Dark Bays Shoppe).
